ABOUT MR. BLOCK Steven J. Block is a former prosecutor who zealously and aggressively represents clients in the fields of criminal defense, driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, traffic ticket defense, statutory summary suspension, and driver’s license reinstatement issues. Mr. Block began is a 3rd generation attorney who began his career as a Cook County State’s Attorney where he prosecuted violent crimes including murder, armed robbery and other felonies and misdemeanors. Mr. Block has prosecuted thousands of DUI’s. During the course of his career as a prosecutor, Mr. Block took hundreds to cases to trial including both jury and bench trials.
Prior to becoming a prosecutor, Mr. Block received his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law where Mr. Block received a CALI award for The Art of Negotiations. Mr. Block has lectured throughout the State of Illinois on behalf of the Chicago Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, and Central States Institute on issues pertaining to DUI and statutory summary suspension law. Mr. Block has authored articles that were published through the Northwest Suburban Bar Association and Illinois State Bar Association on DUI, summary suspension law and search/seizure.
Mr. Block has worked closely with the police department of many municipalities in investigation, charging, and taking statements of witnesses. This invaluable experience allows Mr. Block, as a former prosecutor, to understand both how a police officer and a state’s attorney is thinking when building a defense that best suits you individual circumstances.
